Hello class:
Although Public speaking and conversation share a similarity both have a different way of communication. According to the company of language Boundless Public speaking is the process where you must speak to a group of people in a structured you must inform influence or entertain the attends. On the other hand the conversation is a spontaneous and interactive way of communication between two or more people. In the Public speaking you need to be careful about using a formalized language and structured sentences because they must to be as a logical organized. Also in the Public speaking you must use a correct and formal language while in conversation people tend to use many slang and poor grammar to communicate with other. I have noticed that the similarities between Public speaking and conversation are that both catch the audiences. I think that even though both have a different way of communication they need to involve the speakers attention. In my opinion is good to know the differences because they have a different way of expression. In my case; I tend to talk via message or chat with my friends all day so I use some slangs and the language are so casual. However when I have a job appointment I need to use a formalized language and formality of speaking. We cannot use the same type of communication because the Public speaking require a certain form of speaking while in the conversations the poor grammar and profanity can be accepted.

Audience demographics is important because not only do speakers have to be focused on the audience they must also be aware of their demographic factors such as age gender religion sexual orientation group members and racial ethic or cultural backgrounds. (Lucas 2015 p. 101) Demographic audience analysis has two phases: identifying the audience type and determining the importance in the speech situation. It is crucial to avoid stereotyping. Overgeneralizing within social perception leads to a great deal of inaccuracy in social perception.
Audience analysis is extremely important when giving a speech. It involves assessing the audience to make sure the information provided to the audience is at the appropriate level. It is essential to understand the audiences needs. What the audience expects to hear about a topic is a fundamental factor in how the speech will be received. This is true regardless of whether you are presenting a speech to a small group or a large one.
To properly tailor a speech you can send the future audience a questionnaire to collect information about them. This will give you a better idea about the audience type. Appropriate audience analysis will guarantee that you give the right speech to the right audience. For example if you are a presenting a speech on Future Careers to high school students knowing your audience’s average age is essential. This will help you capture the audiences attention. In my opinion preparation and audience analysis are VITAL. A well prepared speech that is unsuitable for the audience can have the same effect as a poorly prepared speech given to the specific audience. Both speeches will fail.
