This week you have learned about the stages of change and motivational interviewing. Imagine now that you are the head of a substance abuse program, and you want to be sure your clinical staff understands the importance of these stages and how they can be applied to group therapy.

In an in-office memo, for which you address to your clinical staff, explain the following:

    What the stages of change are and the experience a client/patient might have in each stage
    What Motivational Interviewing is and how it can be applied to group therapy
    If and how group therapy will be useful to clients/patients in each stage
