Respond to Peers:Review your classmates posts and respond to at least two of your peers. In each response provide comments on your classmates topic idea and ask a question that prompts your classmate to think more critically about how to explore the research topic in more detail. Each participation post should be a minimum of 75 words.

As a person who loves the outdoors and all it has to offer like hiking fishing and camping I chose the two topics that I feel go hand-in-hand: Ocean desertification and species extinction. First I chose these topics because I believe that ocean desertification and species extinction are two topics that can be talked about in the same conversation. Also I feel strong about these topics which will help keep me interested while performing research for my final paper. I was able to narrow down my selection by doing some preliminary research and I found that ocean desertification is mainly caused by poor natural conditions. I would like to research the natural forces are making parts of the ocean inhabitable.
Identifying credible scholarly sources can be done in a few different ways. I would start by validating the authors and their credentials. Through the verification process you are able to determine the publishers and the date of publishing. Another way a student can determine a sources credibility is by ensuring they contain citations when needed. One final way a source can be vetted is by paying attention to the language they use in their work. Most non-scholarly sources lack the use of technical language.
The news article Dead Sea-Red Sea canal will save Dead Sea From Drought and Desertification simply brings light to a topic that needs to be talked about more often. Additionally it states that the project to help improve conditions in these places in order to make the oceans more inhabitable. (Arabia I. 2000)
Ocean desertification can also be caused by lessened naturally occurring interactions between ecosystems. This leads to less biodiversity which is affecting the ecosystem at incredibly fast rate.(ValienteBanuet et al 2015).
You should chose sources that are scholarly because they will most likely be peer reviewed. This will likely make the sources highly credible and of high quality.

I identified subjects for research based on personal interest relevance to majority of societal demographics and firsthand experiences. Airport security is something nearly everyone is required to experience at some point in their lives. This is thanks in large part to 9/11 and the 16 years of repeated acts and attempted acts of terrorism that have followed ever since. Understandably these facts make airport security procedures technology legitimacy and overall effectiveness prevalent in the concerns of travelers of all ages and backgrounds.I performed critical analysis by determining if sources were labeled as scholarly by AU Librarys database level of professionalism in writing and articulation of content and proof of research. In an age where so much of what is presented as news is really little more than op-ed pieces that are essentially politically charged personal rants it is of utmost importance in an academic setting to properly vet and quantify credible source material to support one’s assertions. Using the criteria stated above I searched the AU Library (when the database would actually work) to determine the worthiness of the sources I’ve selected. The sources I’ve used relating to Airport security highlight two things: the proven fact that a system is only as strong as its weakest link (Eldar 2010) and that the government should continue to take advantage of technological innovation to stop terrorists in their tracks while simultaneously protecting the privacy interests of the law-abiding majority (Simbro 2014). Scholarly sources show that information included has been vetted for accuracy and credibility. This supports the paper itself for content purposes and verifies the academic credibility of the assignment and its writer. REFERENCES:Eldar Z.
