Overview:Abstracts typically serve five main goals:
1. Help readers decide if they should read the entire text
2. Help readers and researchers remember key findings on a topic
3. Help readers understand a text by acting as a pre-reading outline of key points
4. Index articles for quick recovery and cross-referencing
5. Allow supervisors to review technical work without becoming bogged down in details
The format of the abstract is determined by the type of study you are conducting. Note: The abstract is written in third person. No references or quotations are
allowed.
Prompt: Please craft an abstract for your research proposal. Your abstract needs to include:
Title
Statement of topic and purpose of your research
Scope of your research
The methods that will be used and the kinds of evidence anticipated, as well as collection and analysis methods
Anticipated results and potential consequences
Guidelines for Submission: Your abstractmust be submitted as a 150–200 word Microsoft Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman
font, one-inch margins.
