It has only been a few weeks since you were introduced to sociology, but I hope that you are just as enchanted as I was when I took Soc 1….For this week’s writing assignment, scan the textbook, the news, or your everyday lives. Pick an issue that intrigues you. Describe this issue and what makes it sociological. How would a sociologist understand the issue that you identified…? Try to reference at least one course reading (the text or the readings on Moodle) as you explain the sociological significance of the issue that you identified.

Your write up should be 1-2 pages in length (double spaced, one inch margins, 12 point font, MLA format)

• Identification of an Issue 15 Points
• Sociological Explanation of the Issue 15 points
• Reference to at Least 1 Course Reading 10 Points (you can always cite Mills’s The Sociological Imagination)
• Formatting (MLA format, page length, inclusion of a works cited page) 10 Points
